#MOBILIZEWOMEN

Michelle Waterson, 30, is a former Invicta FC champion and currently holds a perfect record since arriving in UFC®’s strawweight division. Known as “The Karate Hottie,” Waterson was a model before competing professionally in the sport. A lifelong martial artist, Waterson holds a black belt in karate and trained in Wushu, Muay Thai, jiu jitsu, boxing and wrestling.

Waterson has been chasing her dream since the age of 10, when she began training in karate. At 19, after attending college at the University of Denver for one year, she realized martial arts defined her life and began pursuing a fighting career full time, turning professional in 2007. Her dream began to take shape when she defeated Jessica Penne to capture the Invicta atomweight championship.

She also made a name for herself as a member of Oxygen’s reality show “Fight Girls” and would move on to make her UFC debut in 2015, submitting Angela Magana. Waterson continues to climb the rankings and ultimately seeks a showdown with UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Waterson is a mother to a young daughter and credits her husband as her hero; noting that the U.S. Armed Forces amateur boxing champion has sacrificed a lot for their family.

Aside from fighting, Waterson has flirted with the Hollywood limelight. She has done stunts for movies like “The Lone Ranger,” “Thor” and “Transcendence,” and was featured in the American metal band Megadeth’s music video for the single “Head Crusher.” In addition to Oxygen’s “Fight Girls,” Waterson has also appeared on MTV’s “Bully Beatdown” and “American Ninja Warrior.”

Being part of the famed Jackson-Winkeljohn camp with powerful females like Holly Holm, Waterson is proud to not only be a role model for her daughter, but for girls everywhere.
